Test method

Oeko-Tex standard 100

Product certification according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® has a modular structure – i.e. textile products can be tested and certified at any production stage (including manufacturing of accessories).

Certificates can thus be issued for:

➔ Raw materials, fibres, filaments
➔ Yarns, raw and finished
➔ textile fabrics, raw and finished (dyed, printed, finished)
➔ ready-made products
➔ textile and non-textile accessories

Components of a finished product which have already been certified will be recognised in the framework of certification processes at subsequent processing stages upon presentation of a valid certificate and representative sample materials and do not require re-testing on the finished product.

This modular principle generally avoids double testing, spreading the financial expense for certification across all production stages involved. This also makes OEKO-TEX® certification attractive for manufacturers of ready-made articles with their complex products.

Responsibility for the human ecology quality of an end product lies with the manufacturer who influences the chemical composition by choosing the ingredients at every processing stage. The OEKO-TEX® certificate reflects this responsibility for one year of OEKO-TEX® compliant production which requires contractual inclusion of the company into the OEKO-TEX® system.
